Junior Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) was tied for 11th place after the first day of the 2011 Sacred Heart Fall Classic. Ketcheson carded an 83 (+11) on the first day, and is nine strokes off the leader. Quinnipiac is currently in 7th place in the eight-team field.
Sacred Heart, hosting the event at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn., sits in first place with a 327, followed by Long Island at 330, Monmouth at 336, Boston University at 350 and Hartford with a 352 to round out the top five. Central Connecticut State finished the day at 360, followed by Quinnipiac at 386 and Holy Cross at 388.
"Kayle [Ketcheson] had a great day with her 83," head coach John O'Connor said. "She only putted 26 times through 18 holes, which is absolutely remarkable. This is a very difficult course, as we're learning, but we hope to play better tomorrow."
Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) finished the first day tied for 25th with a 94 (+22) while freshman Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.) was tied for 34th with a 100.
Quinnipiac resumes play at Great River Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m.
