
Men's Basketball Falls At Brown, 87-78

Deontay Twyman (Olney, Md.) added 14 points for Quinnipiac, while Jamee Jackson (Newark, N.J.) added 13 points and nine rebounds. Dave Johnson (Jackson, N.J.) rounded out the Bobcats' double-figure scorers with 10 points.
Garrett Leffelman added 16 points, while Dockery Walker had 10 points for Brown. Sean McGonagill also added eight assists for the Bears.
Neither team could create much separation in the first half, with the largest lead for the Bears being four points and the Bobcats' greatest advantage being three points. The teams headed to the locker room at halftime with the Bears leading, 30-29. Halpern led all scorers with 12 points, while Sullivan added nine points for Brown. Johnson led the Bobcats with nine points, while Jackson added eight and Twyman had seven.
After the Bobcats led, 54-51, Brown rattled off 15 of the next 16 points to put the game out of reach for Quinnipiac. Adrian Williams canned a three-pointer to tie the game at the 9:55 mark, before Halpern nailed one of his own on the break to put the Bears on top for good. The Bobcats could draw no closer than to within eight points the rest of the way.
For the game, the Bears outshot the Bobcats, 51.9 percent (28-54) to 43.8 percent (28-64) from the floor and 81.3 percent (26-32) to 70.8 percent (17-24) from the free-throw line. Quinnipiac took a 50.0 percent (5-10) to 29.4 percent (5-17) edge from long range. Brown outrebounded the Bobcats, 35-33.
The Bobcats return to NEC action Thursday, when they travel to Staten Island, N.Y., to face Wagner. Opening tip from the Spiro Sports Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
