A three-year member of the Quinnipiac baseball team, Pat DeMaio posted a pitching record of 21–2 in his collegiate career. In 1962, DeMaio signed with the Boston Red Sox and continued his professional career in the Carolina League and N.Y. Penn League, where he recorded a 16–10 record.
