An All-American and two-time All-New England selection in softball at Quinnipiac, Maryann Macari was inducted into the Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame in 1998. While at Quinnipiac, Macari was a two-time team captain and MVP. In 1983, she was fourth in stolen bases in New England. She finished her four-year career batting .343 with 71 stolen bases and a .987 fielding percentage.
