Jim Benson was a 12-year coach of the men’s golf team at Quinnipiac, compiling a 77–49–1 record along the way. Under Benson’s direction, Quinnipiac earned NAIA District 32 titles in 1961, 1963, 1967 and
1969 and was the runner-up in 1966.
In 1963, Benson led Quinnipiac to an undefeated season, while in 1969, the team finished with a 10–3 mark and won the NAIA Tournament to earn a spot in the national tournament.
