Zimmerman Earns Spot on All-Rookie Squad for Top-Seeded Bobcats
HAMDEN, Conn. – Three Quinnipiac men's basketball student-athletes earned All-MAAC recognition, as announced by the league office on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Forwards Amarri Monroe and Paul Otieno both earned a spot on the All-MAAC First Team, and first-year guard Jaden Zimmerman was selected for the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
Monroe led the MAAC with 14 double-doubles, while Otieno finished second with 13 double-doubles. The Bobcats' forward duo also finished atop the conference leaderboard in rebounds (Monroe 9.2 RPG, Otieno 8.6 RPG).
Amarri Monroe paced Quinnipiac in 2024-25, averaging 17.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game – all of which led the team. Monroe impressed by averaging a double-double in league play (19.8 PPG & 10.5 RPG). He finished the regular season leading the MAAC in rebounds per game (9.2), offensive rebounds per game (7.00), and double-doubles (14).
Paul Otienio led the MAAC with a 59.0% shooting percentage in 2024-25. The QU big man finished his regular season campaign with 13.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per night. Otieno averaged 3.9 offensive rebounds per contest – which leads the MAAC and ranks 6th nationally heading into postseason action.
Jaden Zimmerman averaged 10.9 points and 2.1 rebounds during his rookie season with the Bobcats. The guard posted 10+ points in 19 different games this season. He scored 24 points on 2/14 at Sacred Heart, then poured in 22 points against Merrimack on 3/2.
The top-seeded Bobcats finished up the regular season at 15-5 in MAAC play. Quinnipiac clinched its second consecutive MAAC regular season title with a win over Mount St. Mary's on March 6 in Hamden.
No. 1 Quinnipiac will begin action at the MAAC Tournament on Wednesday, March 12 at 6:00 PM. The Bobcats will play the winner of Siena/Rider in the quarterfinal round at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
