Perets Selected as Richter Award Finalist

Sophomore netminder one of final three for award given to nation's top goaltender
HAMDEN, Conn. — For the second year in a row, Yaniv Perets is a Richter Award finalist.
The sophomore netminder is again named as one of the nation's elite netminders, joining a club of three in the final round to name the nation's top Division I men's goalie, the HCA announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Perets is atop the national leaderboards in numerous statistical categories as the calendar turns to the postseason, closing the regular season tops nationally in goals-against average (1.55) and winning percentage (.868).
He also stands second in shutouts (eight) and fifth in save percentage (.927).
The 2021-22 Richter Award finalist is yet again at the top of the Quinnipiac single-season charts as he was a season ago, with his GAA sitting third all-time and his save percentage tied for fifth.
Also a Hobey Baker Award nominee, the netminder has won all 28 games between the posts for the Bobcats, only bettered by Eric Hartzell (30) and Michael Garteig (32) in that department.
The anchor of the Bobcats' top-ranked scoring defense in the country, he helped the Bobcats to 20 wins in ECAC play, the most by a league team since the 1988-89 season and the 28 wins are tied for the most in the program's history.
Perets joins Dryden McKay and Ryan Miller as the only goalies in NCAA Division I history to record eight or more shutouts twice in a season.
His Bobcats return to the ice on Friday night, taking on Yale in the first game of a Best-of-3 Quarterfinal series at M&T Bank Arena.
