HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team is set for its last doubleheader of the season as the Fairfield Stags come to Hamden on Sunday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
Quinnipiac dropped a single match against the Iona Gaels, 3-1 on Friday, March 19 at the Hynes Athletic Center. Two Bobcats recorded double-doubles on the afternoon as junior Maggie Baker tallied 12 kills and 12 digs and first year Chloe Ka'ahanui had 21 assists and 13 digs in the match.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
The MAAC Preseason favorites are 8-0 entering the final weekend of play. Four of the Stags wins have come in three sets, and only once have they gone five sets. Laura Seeger and Ella Gardiner earned MAAC Player of the Week and MAAC Rookie of the Week respectively for their performances last week. They join Manuela Nicolini and Georgia Via, who also have earned MAAC weekly award honors. Seeger leads the Stags with 77 kills, closely followed by Joelle Battles who has 68. Nicolini has 283 assists on the season and Via leads the Stags defense with 114 digs.
ALL-TIME VS. FAIRFIELD
Quinnipiac is 1-17 all time against the Stags. The last matchup between the two teams was in the 2019 MAAC Championship game, where Fairfield won, 3-1.
MAAC WEEKLY AWARDS
Two Bobcat players received conference weekly awards on Tuesday, March 16 for their performances in the first two doubleheaders of the season. Junior outside hitter Maggie Baker was named MAAC Player of the Week as she tallied 81 kills and 42 digs over the first four matches of the season. She averaged 5.4 kills and 2.8 digs per set for Quinnipiac. First-year setter Chloe Ka'ahanui was named MAAC Rookie of the Week as she recorded 87 assists and 31 digs, averaging 10.88 assists and 3.88 digs per set in her first collegiate action.
ALOHA, ASSISTS
First-year setter Chloe Ka'ahanui recorded 58 assists in the season-opening doubleheader vs. Manhattan. The Honolulu, Hawai'i native coupled those assists with 22 digs to record a double-double in her first two collegiate matches.
MAGGIE'S MAGIC
Junior Outside Hitter Maggie Baker began the season with double-digit kill games in the doubleheader vs. Manhattan. In the first match, Baker tallied 19 kills. In the second match, Baker one-upped her performance, recording 20 kills and 17 digs, giving the Huntington Beach, Calif. Native her first double-double of the season. Baker continued her strong start to the season in the doubleheader vs. Canisius, matching her career high in kills with 25 in the first match. She tallied 17 in the second match for the Bobcats.
THE BOBCATS IN 2019
Quinnipiac posted a 14-16 overall record, including an 8-10 MAAC record, good enough for the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament. In the tournament, the Bobcats upset No. 3 Rider and No. 2 Canisius en route to their second conference championship appearance in program history. The Bobcats would fall in the MAAC championship game to No. 1 Fairfield, 3-1.
2021 SEASON FORMAT
The Bobcats are set to play a 10 game conference-only slate, consisting of five doubleheader matchdays. The 2020-21 MAAC volleyball season culminates at the MAAC championships, hosted by the Albany Capital Center in Albany, N.Y. on April 1-3.

SECOND YEAR UNDER ROBINSON
Quinnipiac head coach Kyle Robinson became the first coach in program history to lead the Bobcats to a conference championship game in their first season as head coach. Robinson led the Bobcats to their highest win total and first conference championship game appearance since the 2016 season.
PRESEASON POLL
Quinnipiac was picked as the No. 2 team in the 2020-21 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bobcats received one first place vote and 80 total points in the poll.
THE FIVE NEWCOMERS
Quinnipiac welcomed five new faces to the program for the 2020-21 season. First years Ava Koszalka, Kristina Peric, Chloe Ka'ahanui and Lexi Morse are looking forward to their firse seasons of college volleyball, while Junior Nicole Legg comes to Hamden as a transfer from South Florida.
RETURNING TO HAMDEN
The Bobcats return five of the seven starters from the MAAC Championship game in 2019. Six of the top seven kill getters from 2019 return for the Bobcats.
