Most Quinnipiac Players Selected Since 2016-17
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey placed six Bobcats on the 2019-20 Division I Krampade/AHCA All American Scholars list, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches' Association.
All six Bobcats were recognized by the AHCA for the first time in their careers: senior Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey), sophomore Zach Metsa (Delafield, Wisconsin), and first years Logan Britt (Crystal Lake, Illinois), Evan Fear (Winnetka, Illinois), Jayden Lee (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and CJ McGee (Pearl River, New York)
The Bobcats' six All American Scholars are its most since the inaugural year the AHCA began honoring student-athletes after the 2016-17 season when 12 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey players received recognition.
To be eligible for the academic all-star program, student-athletes must have achieved a 3.75 GPA in the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year and appear in at least 40 percent of a team's games. Some waivers were awarded for backup goalies and players who fell shy of 40 percent of a team's games due to injury.
In total, 571 men's and women's ice hockey players from across the country were recognized as Academic All-Stars.
As a team, Quinnipiac men's ice hockey had an impressive year academically as the Bobcats posted a GPA of 3.38 in the fall semester and 3.68 in the spring.
