
Eddy '04 Returns as Men's Ice Hockey Goaltending Coach

Former Bobcat Back for Second Stint as Goalie Coach, First-Ever Player to Sign NHL Contract
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold
has announced that Justin Eddy '04 has returned to the program as the goaltending coach for the 2019-20 season.
Eddy begins his second stint as a goalie coach with the Bobcats as he previously held the position for two seasons during the 2009-10 season and in 2010-11. In his first two seasons with the Bobcats, Quinnipiac went 36-33-10 and reached the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals in each of the two seasons.
Eddy became the Quinnipiac player to sign a professional contract with an NHL team, signing with the Washington Capitals before playing parts of two seasons in the AHL with the Portland Pirates and the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Utah Grizzlies.
In his Quinnipiac career, Eddy posted a 2.81 GAA and .910 save percentag
e in 75 games to go with a 32-26-8 record and three shutouts. In his professional career, Eddy posted a record of 30-31-7.
As a senior, Eddy was the recipient of the Coaches' Award and as a freshman he received the team's Rookie of the Year Award.
The Bobcats reached the NCAA Tournament during Eddy's sophomore season where he made 28 saves against Cornell in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament game. The Bobcats also won the 2002 MAAC Championship and were MAAC Finalists two other times in 2001 and 2003.
One of Eddy's best games of his career came on Nov. 30, 2000, when he tallied 58 saves against St. Lawrence in a 1-1 tie, at the time a record for most saves in a game in program history.
A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Eddy graduated from Quinnipiac in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in public relations.
