
Rafferty Re-Signs with NHL's Vancouver Canucks

Former Bobcat Made Professional Debut in 2018-19, Signs Two-Year, Two-Way Deal
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey defenseman Brogan Rafferty has signed a two-year, two-way NHL contract with the Vancouver Canucks, as announced by the organization on Tuesday, July 9.
Rafferty signed an entry-level contract with the Canucks on April 1 following his junior season with the Bobcats and made his professional debut on April 4 at Nashville. Rafferty was extended a qualifying offer from the Canucks after the 2018-19 season before signing his two-year, two-way contract.
He is one of six former Quinnipiac players signed to NHL contracts for the 2019-20 season. Rafferty joins Matthew Peca '15 (Montreal Canadiens), Devon Toews '17 (New York Islanders), Connor Clifton (Boston Bruins), Brandon Fortunato '19 (Nashville Predators) and Andrew Shortridge (San Jose Sharks) with at least two-way NHL contracts.
In three years at Quinnipiac, Rafferty made his presence felt on the blue line as he racked up 65 points on 10 goals and 55 assists in 116 career games. Rafferty recorded 24 points in both his freshman and junior seasons, concluding his career with four goals and 20 assists in 2018-19.
As a junior, he earned an increased presence on the Bobcats power play and made a big impact recording three of his four goals with the man advantage. Rafferty was one of four Quinnipiac defensemen to record more than 20 points this season, finishing third with 24 points.
Rafferty came to Quinnipiac in 2016-17 and quickly got involved in the Bobcats' offense with a team-high 22 assists and totaled 24 points on the Bobcats run to the ECAC Hockey semifinals. As a sophomore in 2017-18, Rafferty doubled his goal total to four and added 13 assists before putting it all together as a junior with another 24-point season.
MacMaster '18 Re-Signs with AHL's Toronto
Marlies
Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey forward Tanner MacMaster '18 also received another professional contract as he re-signed with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, as announced by the organization on Tuesday, July 9.
MacMaster split the 2018-19 season between the Utica Comets and Marlies after he was traded to Toronto in the middle of February. He concluded the 2018-19 season with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points between the two organizations.
He initially signed with Utica after completing a four-year career at Quinnipiac, recording two goals and five assists for seven points in 13 games in 2017-18 and re-signed with Utica prior to the 2018-19 season.
MacMaster recorded 84 points in 150 career games over four years with the Bobcats, tallying 30 goals and 54 assists in that span. He recorded career-highs with 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points as a senior in 2017-18 and led the Bobcats with a +13 plus/minus rating.
