Davidson Leads Way with Third Straight Selection Since Award's Inception
- 2018-19 AHCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLARS
HAMDEN, Conn. – Five Quinnipiac men's ice hockey players were named AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholars, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches' Association on Tuesday, July 30.
Seniors Scott Davidson '19 and Luke Shiplo '19 were named to the All-American Scholars as well as freshmen Wyatt Bongiovanni (Birmingham, Michigan), TJ Friedmann (St. Louis, Missouri) and Daniel Winslow (Fairfield, Connecticut).
Davidson has been named an All-American Scholar all three years that the award has been presented while Bongiovanni, Friedmann, Shiplo and Winslow were all recognized for the first time. Quinnipiac was one of four teams in ECAC Hockey to record five All-American scholars.
In total, 292 men's ice hockey players from across the country were recognized as All-American Scholars in 2018-19. To be eligible for the honor, players much have earned a 3.6 GPA in each semester and participated in at least 40 percent of its school's games.
Davidson excelled both on and off the ice for the Bobcats in his four seasons in Hamden as he was a three-time AHCA Scholar All-American and four-time selection to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. In 2018-19, Davidson was also recognized on the Commissioner's List from ECAC Hockey as the team's top scholar.
As a team, Quinnipiac recorded a 3.325 GPA in the spring semester and had six players named to the Dean's List. The program finished the 2018-19 academic year with a 3.35 GPA.
