OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) has been named as a finalist for the 2018-19 Senior CLASS Award, as announced Friday by the Senior CLASS Award Committee.
Priskie is one of 10 NCAA men's ice hockey student-athletes selected as finalists for the award which honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the ice. He is also one of just three student-athletes from ECAC Hockey named to as a top 10 finalist, joining Princeton's Josh Teves and Max Veronneau.
Priskie is Quinnipiac's for Senior CLASS Award Top 10 Finalist since Jean-Marc Beaudoin '10 for the 2009-10 season.
Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner and fans are encouraged to submit votes through April 8 by CLICKING HERE. Fan votes will be combined with those from the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men's Frozen Final Four in April.
Priskie returned for his senior season this year and has been a dominant presence on the ice for the Bobcats. He leads the nation with nine power-play goals, 20 power-play points and five game-winning goals. Priskie is tied for sixth in the nation, and second among defenseman, with 33 points while his 14 goals are tied for the national lead among defenseman.
In his career, Priskie has 36 goals, 74 assists and 110 points. He is second among defenseman in program history in goals and points, and third in assists. Priskie also leads all defenseman in the nation in career goals, power-play goals, game-winning goals and points while his 74 assists are second to Harvard's Adam Fox with 76.
The No. 4/4 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team hosts the Yale Bulldogs Friday night for the 17th Annual Heroes Hat game with puck drop set for 7 p.m. from Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
