
Luciana Tobia-Palza Leads QU Women's Golf To Top 10 Finish At Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina - Quinnipiac women's golf finished eighth out of 17 teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College at Moss Creek Golf Course. Sophomore stand-out Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) finished fifth out of 93 golfers with a 157 (+13).
The Bobcats shot a combined 332 on Sunday to go with Saturday's 320 for a two-day total of 652. High Point won the event, followed by Gardner-Webb, Seton Hall, USC Upstate, Bethune Cookman and Wofford and Dalton State tied for sixth ahead of Quinnipiac. The Bobcats finished in front of Appalachian State, Bucknell, Navy, Presbyterian College, UNC Asheville, SCAD, USCB, Longwood and The Citadel.
Tobia-Palza started on hole No. 3 with a bogey and also double-bogeyed hole No. 6 and triple-bogeyed hole No. 9. After a bogey on hole No. 10, Tobia-Palza settled-in to par the next seven holes before a bogey on hole No. 18 put her at +2 for the back nine. After parring holes No. 1 and 2, she completed the front nine at +7 for a +9, 81 for the second day to go along with her +4, 76 from Saturday.
Tobia-Palza's 157 at Moss Creek tied a season-best for Tobia-Palza that she also shot at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational and the Dartmouth Invitational while her fifth place finish was her second-best of the season after a fourth-place finish at the Quinnipiac Classic.
Freshman Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut) followed her first-day 78 (+6) with a second-day 82 (+10) to finish tied for 13th with a +16, 160. The two-day total was her best 36-hole total in her last three outings and her top score since a 155 at the Tignanelli Classic. Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) finished tied for 47th with a 167 (+23) for her second-best 36-hole score of the season.
