
QU Field Hockey Falls To Lafayette, 2-1, In Overtime

HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Quinnipiac University field hockey team lost to Lafayette College, 2-1 in overtime, in a non-conference match-up at Johnson Field in New Haven, Connecticut. With the loss, Quinnipiac falls to 0-6 on the season while the Leopards improve to 4-1 on the season.
Lafayette scored with 4:07 remaining in overtime when Cameron Costello received the ball in the attacking red zone and found herself open with a chance to score. Costello was able to skate the ball past the Bobcat's Olivia Golini (York, Maine) for the game-winner and her first goal of the season.
Felicia Costanzo (Yorktown Heights, NY) got the offense started for the Bobcats when she possessed the ball in the attacking red zone to the left of Lafayette goaltender Katelyn Arnold and found the back of the cage for her first goal of the season.
Lafayette College tied it up at one with 6:15 to play in the second half when the Leopard's Rosa Jonckheer received a pass in the attacking red zone. She held the ball before making her way to the right of the cage. Jonckheer then stepped around a Quinnipiac defender before blasting her third goal of the season past Golini.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Sept. 16 when it hosts Georgetown at 3 p.m. at Johnson Field in New Haven, Connecticut. The game will mark the first BIG EAST Conference contest in program history. Quinnipiac Athletics will present a Commemorative Ticket to the first 800 fans and a Gold T-Shirt to the first 250 fans at Johnson Field.
