LAST GAME (QUINNIPIAC 8, MARIST 7)
Senior attack Ryan Keenan (Oshawa, Ontario) tied the score with just three seconds left in regulation and sophomore midfielder Anthony Carchietta (Syosset, N.Y.) won it with just one second left in overtime, as the Quinnipiac Men's Lacrosse team rallied from a 5-1 deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to stun MAAC favorite Marist 8-7 on Saturday afternoon at Tenney Stadium. Keenan finished the game with three goals and one assist, with his fourth-quarter assist making him the 12th player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau. After following with two more goals in the fourth, Keenan ended the game with 102 points. Sophomore midfielder Will Vitelli (Milford, Conn.) won all 19 faceoffs in the game, including 9-9 in the pivotal fourth quarter, while junior goalie Jack Brust (Baltimore, Md.) had 13 saves for the Bobcats, including two big ones in overtime. Marist appeared to have the game won in regulation, as Joseph Radin scored his fourth goal of the game with exactly 2:00 left to break a 6-6 tie and put his team ahead 7-6. The Red Foxes were a clear away from securing the win, but sophomore long stick midfielder Adam Bellamy (St. Catherine's, Ontario) earned a ground ball after Marist lost possession with just over 20 seconds left, and senior midfielder Nate Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md.) found Keenan behind the net with the game clock winding down. Keenan came around in front of the net and wrapped a shot past goalkeeper Brian Corrigan with three seconds left to send the game to overtime. Then, with the overtime clock winding down, Carchietta took the ball himself from behind the net around the left side and whipped a high shot past Corrigan from a tight angle with just one second left to secure the win. The Bobcats dominated ground balls, largely due to their 19-19 performance on faceoffs, finishing with 38 to Marist's 16, as Bellamy had 10 and Vitelli added six. The Red Foxes had a 36-31 edge in shots for the game, but Quinnipiac held the 14-4 edge in that category in the fourth quarter.
NATIONAL HONORS FOR VITELLI
Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli was named the StringKing National Player of the Week on Wednesday by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, after having a huge role in Quinnipiac's 8-7 overtime win over Marist on Saturday. Vitelli was a perfect 19-19 on faceoffs on the day, including 9-9 in the pivotal fourth quarter, as the Bobcats overcame a 5-1 deficit to come back and tie the score with three seconds left in regulation. Vitelli was also named the MAAC Player of the Week on Monday after his perfect performance.
WHERE THERE'S A WILL...
Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli's performance at the X has been almost a perfect barometer for Quinnipiac's success or failure this season. In four of Quinnipiac's five wins, Vitelli has been dominant on faceoffs, winning 15 of 22 against Bellarmine, 13 of 20 against NJIT, 16 of 21 against Siena and a perfect 19 of 19 against Marist. The only exception was an overtime win at Hartford, when he was below .500 but the Bobcats were able to pull off the win regardless. In MAAC games this season, Vitelli has a remarkable 87.5 winning percentage on faceoffs, including his 16-21 against Siena and his 19-19 against Marist. He was a perfect 9-9 in the first half against Siena, giving him three perfect halves out of four in MAAC play.
KEENAN REACHES CENTURY MARK
Senior attack Ryan Keenan became just the 12th player in school history to record 100 career points with a fourth-quarter assist against Marist on Saturday. He now has 73 goals and 29 assists in his four-year career, giving him 102 career points, just two away from moving into the top 10. His 73 goals, including 12 so far this season, rank him tied for ninth in Bobcat annals, with a chance to move as high as fourth (88) by season's end. Keenan also has an active streak of 22 straight games with at least one point, dating back to 2015 opening day against Brown.

A COLLECTION OF HAT TRICKS FOR FELDMAN
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman enters the Detroit game with 44 career goals in his first season and a half, ahead of pace to score over 100 goals in his career, something only three Bobcats have accomplished (see above). He leads Quinnipiac with 15 goals this season, including four hat tricks, three of which came consecutively in wins over Bellarmine, NJIT and Hartford. In his career, he now has nine hat tricks, including both meetings with Detroit last season. The second meeting with Detroit in the MAAC Semifinals last year saw him match his career high with five goals.

FAMILY TIES
Quinnipiac's top two goal-scorers in the last two seasons are sophomore attack Brian Feldman (44) and senior attack Ryan Keenan (39). Coincidentally, they aren't the first members of their families to play college lacrosse together. Keenan's father, Derek, and Feldman's father, Daniel, played for one season together on the Ithaca lacrosse team in 1987, when Derek Keenan was a senior and Daniel Feldman was a freshman. It was a connection both players were unaware of until they were teammates at Quinnipiac.
METH COMES UP BIG
Senior midfielder Connor Meth has had a pair of game-winning goals in the last month, including a dramatic sudden-death overtime game-winner in an 11-10 win over Hartford on March 12. His golden goal came when he circled from behind the cage to bounce in an unassisted goal for the winning shot. In a March 26 win over Siena in Quinnipiac's MAAC opener, Meth had back-to-back unassisted goals with the score tied 5-5 in the third, the first of which came while the Bobcats were playing a man down. The second of his two goals held up as the game-winner as the Bobcats went on to an 11-6 win to start off MAAC play with a 1-0 record.
BRUST EARNS SECOND MAAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK AWARD
Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust has twice been named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week this season. His second honor came after making 14 saves and allowing only six goals in an 11-6 MAAC-opening win over Siena on March 26. Brust first earned the honor back on March 7, after tallying 12 saves in a close 9-7 win over NJIT.
SECOND HALF'S THE CHARM
Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust has had a strong season thus far for the Bobcats, but what has been most impressive is how dominant he has been in the second half of Quinnipiac wins. In a 9-7 win over NJIT on March 5, Brust had eight saves in the second half and allowed only two goals after the game was tied 5-5 at the half. In an 11-10 comeback win over Hartford on March 12, Brust allowed only three goals in the second half while making seven saves as the Bobcats snapped a six-game losing streak in the series with the Hawks. In a March 26 win over Siena, Brust allowed only two goals after halftime while making seven of his 14 saves in Quinnipiac's 11-6 win. Then, in Saturday's win over Marist, Brust had 10 saves after halftime (including two clutch ones in overtime), while allowing four goals. In the five wins this season, Brust has allowed only 14 goals after halftime while making 35 saves (a .714 save percentage).
CARDIAC CATS
Quinnipiac has had a penchant for scoring buzzer-beating goals early in the 2016 season, none bigger than the two in an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 10. The Bobcats tied the score with just three seconds left in regulation after forcing a turnover on a Marist clear attempt, with senior attack Ryan Keenan scoring from behind the cage off a pass from senior midfielder Nate Nibbelink. Then, sophomore midfielder Anthony Carchietta provided the game-winner with just one second left in overtime as he also circled from behind the cage to put a shot into the upper corner just before the final horn. Quinnipiac also scored a goal in the last second of the first half against Marquette as junior attack Drew D'Antonio found the net off a feed from sophomore attack James Byrns with just 0.6 seconds on the clock.
GROUNDS CREW
Due largely to its dominance in faceoffs, the Bobcats finished with a whopping 38-16 advantage in ground balls in its 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 10. Sophomore long stick midfielder Adam Bellamy finished with 11, many of which came on faceoffs, but he also added a huge one in the final 30 seconds of regulation off a Marist turnover to help set up the tying goal. Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli had six ground balls after cleanly winning several of his faceoffs, while junior goalie Jack Brust added five.
FROST EARNS MAAC HONORS
Freshman attack Matt Frost was named the MAAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Feb. 29 after scoring his first three collegiate goals in Quinnipiac's 12-6 road win over Bellarmine. It was a key road win for the Bobcats over a Bellarmine team that had come into the game after falling just 11-6 at No. 1 Notre Dame earlier in the week.
INSTANT IMPACT
After being held scoreless in his first collegiate game, freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo has developed into one of the team's top weapons. He had a goal and three assists in a win over Bellarmine on Feb. 27 and had a two-goal, one-assist effort against Fairfield on Tuesday, March 23 to tie him for team-high honors in points. He added a goal and an assist in Saturday's MAAC opener against Siena and now has 13 points on the season, ranking him fourth on the team.
NEW ROLES PAY OFF FOR CARCHIETTA, D'ANTONIO
Sophomore Anthony Carchietta was in the opening day starting lineup at attack, but moved back to the starting midfield at Fairfield on March 23. He responded to the new role in fine fashion, tallying his first career multi-goal game with two goals and one assist in the 13-7 loss to the Stags. Junior Drew D'Antonio also made his first start with the Bobcats at attack against Fairfield (after transferring from Bryant in the offseason) and had a goal and an assist. The two players had major roles in Quinnipiac's 8-7 road win over Marist on April 10, with Carchietta scoring the game-winner with just one second left in the overtime, while also passing to D'Antonio for a goal which tied the score at 6-6 with just over three minutes left to play in the fourth quarter.
LAWSON PROVIDES A LIFT IN WIN AT HARTFORD
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Lawson saw his first action of the 2016 season on March 12 against Hartford and came up big, providing two second half goals to help the Bobcats rally from a 7-3 halftime deficit to win in overtime. Lawson's second goal tied the score at 9-9 late in the fourth quarter after the Hawks had broken an 8-8 tie. Lawson had two goals as a freshman last season, one of which came against a Stony Brook team that finished the year ranked in the national top 20.
PRESEASON INSIDE LACROSSE RECOGNITION
Three seniors on the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team – attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth and defenseman Chris Kendall - were named to the Preseason All-MAAC team by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in December. Keenan and Meth were also named to the Preseason All-MAAC team, which was voted on by the conference coaches.
BOBCATS NAME 2016 CAPTAINS
Five members of the Bobcats will share captain duties this spring, including four seniors and a redshirt junior. Attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth, defenseman Chris Kendall, face-off specialist Connor Devane, and goalkeeper Jack Brust will give Quinnipiac veteran leadership at every position on the field.
BOBCAT STAT LEADERS
Senior attack Ryan Keenan has recently surged into a comfortable lead on the Bobcats with 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists), but the race for second is still very tight. He is followed by sophomore attack Brian Feldman, who has a team-best 15 goals, with senior midfielder Connor Meth (10-4-14).and freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo (8-5-13) right behind. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Vitelli leads in faceoffs won (82 of 146, 56.2 percent) and ground balls with 31, while junior goalkeeper Jack Brust is second in ground balls (26) and has a 9.87 goals against average and a .533 save percentage. Sophomore long stick midfielder Adam Bellamy (22) and senior midfielder Nate Nibbelink (21) also have over 20 ground balls, while senior defenseman Ryan Lawler leads with 13 caused turnovers, followed by fellow defensemen Riley Palmer (10) and Chris Kendall (nine).
SCOUTING THE TITANS
Detroit comes into the weekend with a 1-7 overall mark and a 1-1 record in MAAC play, picking up a 9-3 win over Manhattan and suffering a narrow 7-6 loss to Siena in conference action. The Titans are a defensive-minded team that has yet to score 10 goals in a game this season, but which has suffered five of its seven losses by two goals or less, including 8-7 to Bellarmine (which Quinnipiac defeated 12-6) and 7-5 to No. 20 Air Force. Mark Anstead leads the team in points with 19 (9-10-19), while Andy Hebden (14-2-16) is the top goal scorer. Jason Weber has seen most of the action in goal and has a 9.27 goals against average and a .561 save percentage. The Titans struggle on faceoffs (35.8 percent), but are outstanding man-up (44.0 percent).
ALL-TIME AGAINST DETROIT MERCY
Quinnipiac has fared well in the series, holding a 6-1 all-time record against the Titans. The Bobcats won the first two meetings, sweeping the home-and-away series in 2009 and 2010. The Titans nabbed a home triumph in 2012, but Quinnipiac has won four straight since (2013, 2014 and twice in 2015). In the regular season meeting last year, Quinnipiac defeated Detroit Mercy 13-12 in Hamden as Michael Sagl and Ryan Keenan each had five points in the win. In the rematch in the MAAC semifinals, the Bobcats won 17-9 behind five goals from Brian Feldman.
BOBCATS PICKED SECOND IN MAAC COACHES POLL
The Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on December 9, 2015. Marist College, last year's MAAC Champions, claimed the top spot in the poll, while Monmouth was picked third. Marist and Quinnipiac met in the conference championship game a year ago, which the Red Foxes won on their home field 16-14.
YOUNG SQUAD IN 2016
The leadership of the Bobcats captains (see above) will be key as Quinnipiac has a lot of young faces on the team this season. A total of 31 of the 43 players on the roster are freshmen (15) and sophomores.(16), while two junior transfers in their first seasons at Quinnipiac, adding to the influx of new talent. The youth has Quinnipiac poised to be a consistent contender in the MAAC for the next few seasons.
TOUGH TOP TO BOTTOM
Quinnipiac finished second in the MAAC last season, but just about every conference game it played came down to the wire. The Bobcats played at least one game against each of the other six MAAC teams that was decided by three goals or less, picking up one-goal wins over Detroit (13-12) and Monmouth (9-8) and two-goal wins over Manhattan (8-6) and Canisius (9-7). The Bobcats also fell 9-6 to Siena and dropped a 16-14 decision to Marist in the MAAC title game.
HOME, SWEET HOME
Quinnipiac's performance on its home turf will be important for the team's prospects in the MAAC this year, and the Bobcats got off to a good start with an 11-6 win over Siena on March 26. The Bobcats play road games against the other three teams that qualified for the MAAC Tournament last year (Marist, Monmouth, Detroit). A year ago, Quinnipiac earned two big one-goal wins on its home field, edging Detroit and Monmouth to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
ROAD, SWEET ROAD
Quinnipiac has proven to be a strong road team this season, tallying a 3-1 record away from QU Lacrosse Complex. The wins include two in overtime, an 11-10 win at Hartford on March 12 and an 8-7 win over Marist on April 2. The Bobcats also picked up a 12-6 win at Bellarmine on Feb. 27, three days after Bellarmine had lost just 11-6 to then-No. 1 ranked Notre Dame.

LAWSON PROVIDES A LIFT IN WIN AT HARTFORD
