HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac field hockey senior goalkeeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was recently featured in an article featured in the Abington Journal on Wednesday, September 24. The article, written by contributing columnist Bill Arsenault, highlights Conaboy's stellar play through the early part of the 2014 schedule for the Bobcats.
Conaboy, the reigning MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, has picked up right where she left off last season as the Bobcats' stalwart goalkeeper has already picked up two MAAC Defensive Player of the Week awards. A steadying presence along the back line of the Bobcats' defense, Conaboy has started and played every minute of all eight games for Quinnipiac this season. Her 2014 stat line includes a 3-5 record, 2.18 GAA, .778 save percentage (14th in NCAA Div. I, 1st MAAC), 63 saves (1st in MAAC) and one shutout.
Already with three double digit save games this season, Conaboy flashed her incredible skill in a career game earlier this season on Sept. 7 against Penn State. Facing one of the most prolific offenses in the country, Conaboy posted 22 saves in goal which is the most for any goalkeeper in the country in a single-game this season. The next-closest single-game save total in all of the NCAA Div. I is 18 as Conaboy's new career high certainly caught national attention.
The Bobcats and Conaboy return to action looking to extend their winning streak to three games on Sunday as Quinnipiac takes on Maine on the road at 1:00 pm.
