HAMDEN, Conn. Quinnipiac University women's tennis assistant coach Paula Miller was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Assistant Coach of the Year, the organization recently announced. Miller, who recently completed her 12th season under head coach Michael Quitko, has helped the Bobcats to five consecutive Northeast Conference Championships. Miller, a former Bobcats player and 1996 graduate of the school, assists Quitko in all aspects of coaching the Quinnipiac women's tennis program.
"Paula has been instrumental in the success we've had at this program, almost from the day I got here," said Quitko. "She was my first recruit and has become almost an extension of me. I thank her for everything she's done to help. There is no one more deserving of this award than Paula Miller."
The Regional Assistant Coach of the Year is awarded annually to an assistant who has more than one year of service at their respective school. The team's sportsmanship and performance, as well as the coach's contribution to the game of tennis (coaching, teaching and community), are considered when choosing the most deserving candidate.
