HAMDEN, Conn. Hannah Nelson (Glastonbury, Conn.) was named to the womenslacrosse.com weekly honor roll. Nelson is only the second player from the Northeast Conference to appear on the website's honor roll this season, joining Sacred Heart's Chelsea Wagner who was named to the team the last week in March.
The Bobcats' goalkeeper earned the honor with her performance this past week in three wins over NEC foes, setting up the Bobcats to finish with at least a share of the regular-season crown. She made 24 saves, had a .585 save-percentage and picked up seven ground balls in wins over CCSU, Sacred Heart and Mount St. Mary's.
This is the second time this week that Nelson has been honored with a weekly accolade after having been named the NEC's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Cornell's Katherine Simmons won the website's Player of the Week honors, while Hofstra's Stephanie Rice won Rookie of the Week. Joining Nelson on the honor roll for Division I this week were Lauren Chatnik from Fairfield, Morgan Dyson from California, Christy Finch from Northwestern, Kelly Kasper of the University of Maryland, Laura King from George Mason, and Boston University's Rachel Klein.
Nelson and the rest of the Bobcats finish the regular season on Sunday when they take on the Colgate Red Raiders. Senior day Ceremonies will precede Sunday's game, which is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
