Two members of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team - graduate students Kristen McCarthy (Suffern, N.Y.) and Meghan Turner (Huntington, N.Y.) - have been selected to the 2007 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll. In addition, the team was also tabbed as a unit for its efforts in the classroom, as it earned Honor Squad accolades from the IWLCA for the second year in a row. This recognition is given to teams that held a team GPA of 3.0 or greater for the 2006-2007 academic year.
In all, 96 schools and 410 student-athletes were honored by the IWLCA for performance both on the field and in the classroom in 2006-07.
As a team, Quinnipiac posted the 10th highest GPA among the 43 Division I programs that earned the honor.
"I am very proud of how well the team did academically this
year," head coach Danie
Caro said. "The seniors set a very ambitious team academic
goal, and everyone on the team made a commitment to achieve that
goal. Academic success is expected of all student-athletes at
Quinnipiac University, so it's very nice to see individual players
and the team honored for their efforts."
