HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University softball's Hannah Lindsley (Narrangansett, Rhode Island) was named the conference player of the week on Tuesday, Mar. 24 by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The senior led the Bobcat offense over the weekend at the Liberty Classic in Lynchburg, Virginia. The honor is the fourth of the season for Quinnipiac, having swept the awards after their first weekend of play at Charlotte's First Pitch Classic.
The Bobcats' senior pitcher had herself an incredible five-game stretch this past weekend at the Classic, as she batted .467, going 7-for-15 at the plate with three home runs, 8 RBI, six runs scored and two walks. Lindsley posted an impressive 1.133 slugging percentage while adding an on base percentage of .529. She hit safely in four of the five games and recorded two multi-hit performances.
The senior began the weekend on Thursday with an all-around day, setting a career high in multiple categories in the first game against Saint Francis. Lindsley was 3-for-4 with three home runs and six RBI against the Red Flash. In her first three at bats, she hit a solo shot, a two-run and a three-run homerun in a 13-7 loss.
In the second game of the day against Toledo, Lindsley led the Bobcats to a 5-3 victory. At the plate, Lindsley was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and one run scored. With the score tied at three in the top of the seventh, Lindsley stepped to the plate with runners on first and second. The senior connected for a two-run double to right field, giving QU a 5-3 lead. Not only did she knock home the winning runs, she pitched a complete game and earned her first win of the season by allowing just three earned runs off five hits. Lindsley started the game holding the Rockets scoreless through the first five innings.
In a loss to Kent State, the senior pitcher was 1-for-1 with a run scored and two walks. She wrapped up the weekend with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate with one walk and a run scored against NC Central. Lindsley now leads the team with four home runs and 12 RBI on the year.
Quinnipiac finished the tournament with a 1-4 overall record in Virginia. The Bobcats left Liberty to begin a nine game home stand at the QU Softball Field in Hamden.
