Named the 1997 Male Athlete of the Year, Tim Belcher re-wrote Quinnipiac’s baseball record book on his way to becoming the school’s first student-athlete named as a First Team All- American. In 1997 Belcher blasted 18 home runs while driving in 76 runs, scored 54 times and amassed a .957 slugging percentage—all Quinnipiac records—while batting .471. After leading all of Division II baseball with 2.17 RBIs per game, Belcher was named an ABCA/Converse Division II All-Northeast Regional First Team pick and was tapped as the Northeast-10 Player of the Year. His five grand slams that season still stand as the NCAA Division II record.
