Nick DeMaio was a two-sport standout for Quinnipiac, starring three years on the baseball team and two on the basketball squad. On the hardwood, Quinnipiac compiled a 49–23 record as DeMaio scored 331 points in his two seasons. On the diamond, DeMaio led Quinnipiac in hitting with a .324 batting average as a junior, while also leading the team in hits.
