A four-year member of the men’s ice hockey team, Michael Barrett served as captain in both his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, Barrett was the leading scorer with 38 points and was voted MVP as the team’s top offensive player. Barrett has had the most significant impact of any player on the hockey program and was named Most Outstanding Male Athlete of 1985. Barrett ranks sixth with 62 goals, tied for 16th with 64 assists and tied for ninth with 126 points. He also is tied for sixth with 23 goals in a season (1984–85).
Upon graduation, Barrett served as an assistant coach of the Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team and, in 2002, was named head coach of the women’s program.
