Diane Velky completed her stellar four-year career as the all-time leading scorer in Quinnipiac history with 1,118 points and now ranks ninth. Velky captained the team as a junior and senior, leading Quinnipiac to the Connecicut State Championship in 1981. As a senior, Velky led the nation in field goal percentage with a team record 66.4 percent. The mark, an NCAA record at the time, ranks 12th all-time in NCAA Division II history. The Bridgeport, Conn., native earned the team’s Hustle Award in guiding the squad to a then-Quinnipiac record 17 victories.
